mekko

So winter break is literally mere hours away and I am running on empty. I don’t think I’ve had a good night’s sleep in at least two weeks, and finals time has just been kicking my ass left right and center. I tried to take pictures of something this morning for the blog, but all the pictures came out terribly. In my very tired, very sleep-deprived, very-we-don’t-have-any-coffee-left-in-the-house state, I wanted to cry and throw myself out the window, but I recognize I might be overreacting just a little.

I basically feel like Mekko in that picture. Give me a pillow or four and I’ll make myself very small and just stay there for a very long time because that’s what I need. I ate pizza for breakfast this morning.

So. This blogging thing and picture-taking thing will have to wait a few days until I can boost up my energy and morale and give it another shot. Also seriously considering a new camera.

Winter break is going to be so productive and awesome that I can’t stand it. So many things will happen. Just you wait and see. You’re going to platz.

  1. Oh my god. I love you. I’m feeling the exact same way with work right now. A dinner party planned for tonight just blew up. It was supposed to be so, so simple and it is so, so not. (sigh) At least I have a camera that I love – not that I have time to use it. (double sigh) It’s the Nikon D5100. Hang in there…

  2. I want to pet Mekko, if you curl up next to her, I will gently pet you too. Hang in there Daniel!

  3. Mekko is the most adorable dog, and curls up so adorably! She obviously needs endless cuddles. (And yes, I’m totally one of those people who can’t be trusted to walk down the street without petting ALL THE DOGS.)

  4. I love Fetch! Thank you for giving me a reason to buy yet another pair of glasses. :)
Discounts are love! And I’m bored of my other pairs #firstworldproblems.

  5. I’m just finishing up my final assignments and I would have to say that you’re not overreacting. At all.

  6. Such an adorable puppy! If I might ask, what duvet cover is that? I’ve been looking for the perfect gray one and that looks as if it might fit the bill.

    • i think it was from
      muji

    • If I am correct I hope that doesnt totally freak you out Daniel …….that random people around the globe remember where you bought your bed linens :)

Enjoy your downtime without guilt. Youve earned it.

  7. As a fellow NYU student (grad program), I’ve now been overcome with the urge to comment here. Yes. Completely. I miss my bed. I both adore and despise coffee right now. I’m tired of being awake in the middle of the night working. I’m tired of eating snacks. I just want a real meal, at a table, with silverware, and no computer in my face. Good luck!

  8. how much does mekko weigh? sometimes she looks big and other times small. would love to cuddle with her!

    • Mekko weighs 48 pounds or so…so she’s not huge, but she definitely has a way of making herself VERY little when she wants to. It’s kind of amazing.

  9. I’ll agree with everyone else finishing finals- not overreacting. If I can stand in a bathroom stall and cry for a good ten minutes (for reasons which seemed logical at the time, but which I can no longer remember), you can cry too. No throwing yourself out the window though.

  10. Good luck with finals. Thanks for the Mekko pic, so cute!

  11. wow you’re already done! my school just ends exceptionally late then. finals haven’t even started for me yet. recharge away! can’t wait to read your blog soon. have a great winter break!

  12. Daniel, what kind of camera do you use? I like your pictures, although I think apathy is making my pictures bad, not my camera.

    • I use a combination of a Nikon D80 and a Canon point-and-shoot…

The Nikon is OK, it’s just a little old and doesn’t do well in low light—the technology has gotten MUCH better in the last few years, but the new bodies are $$$. Been thinking about a better new point and shoot, like the Panasonic Lumix. I have no idea. I get flustered just thinking about it.

  13. Hang in there. You’ll be in that post-Finals euphoria soon, and there ain’t nothing like it!

  14. I felt the same way! My last final was this morning (Saturday) at 7:30, yuck!

  15. Hej, these days before winter break are the roughest- same here. I have a massive work overload before I leave for two weeks. Can’t wait to go to snowy Engadin and I can’t wait to platz with your coming blog entries!

  16. Please take several deep breaths and remember to take care of YOU. We need you. I need you, especially. And for god sakes how does one EVER run out of coffee? That is simply unacceptable. And even commenting about throwing yourself out the window is NOT funny. Not even a little bit. You are cherished every moment of every day and you have to remember that and live like it.

  17. Oh yeah. Finals. I ALWAYS felt like that at finals.

Go. Get some sleep. You’ve earned it!

  18. Even if that early really wasn’t your Mom, that is the best comment ever. Totally agree (I’m a Mom, too!)!!!
